Posture, Alignment
& Biomechanics

DSC05090-2.jpg

Alignment, posture, and biomechanics directly affect our body's movement during walking and running. Malalignments and poor posture/biomechanics may lead to imbalances in movement, which may potentially result in pain or discomfort.

A biomechanical assessment helps us gain a comprehensive understanding of your biomechanics and alignment, allowing us to provide you with a detailed explanation of the findings. Based on the assessment results, we are able to make personalised recommendations for treatment and management.

At Hip to Sole Podiatry, we strive to provide holistic and individualised care to help you improve your biomechanics, alleviate pain, and optimise your movement efficiency.

SOME OF ALIGNMENT CONDITIONS WE TREAT:

  • Flat feet

  • High arch feet

  • Bunions

  • Knee malalignment: Genu Valgum and Genu Varum

  • Limb length discrepancies

  • Lower crossed body syndrome

HOW DO WE ASSESS BIOMECHANICS, POSTURE & ALIGNMENT?

At Hip to Sole Podiatry, we conduct a comprehensive biomechanical assessment that focuses on assessing your gait, posture, taking into account joint range of motion, muscular strength, flexibility and resistance, bone congruency and specific measurements taken of the foot, knee and hip. A biomechanical assessment allows for insight into the bigger picture and root cause of potential pains and aches that you may have so that we can address them best with our treatment protocols.

HOW DO WE TREAT ALIGNMENT, POSTURE AND BIOMECHANICS?

We approach each patient case with a holistic treatment plan that is often multimodal.
In some cases, a combination of orthotics, manual therapy and exercise rehab is optimal. In other cases, orthotics may not be required. Treatment approaches vary from individual to individual.
